Furthering The Standards of Guitar Playing and Instruction
David Howard is the author of his own book titled "Pathways to Great Guitar Playing" to further his commitment to help other guitarists improve their playing skills and theoretical skills.
The book is very unique in its approach towards fret board theory and unlocking fret board patterns up and down the neck. Without solid fret board knowledge, guitarists can often, in some instances, become very frustrated in their progress and often stay stuck in box patterns or certain playing positions on the guitar neck.
"Pathways to Great Guitar Playing" will help free the guitarist from running through stock finger patterns when improvising and help aid in opening up the resources of the entire neck regardless of the key that the music is in.
Do You Know Every Note On The Fret board?
I ask this question to all guitar players. You would be surprised, based on my lectures and master classes that many guitarists inevitably answer no to this question. Do you know, instantaneously, the name of every note on the fret board regardless of position and without the need for counting up or down or using memory devices? If you want to substantially improve your sight reading, theoretical, improvisational and compositional skills, then the ability to instantaneously recall every single note on the guitar fret board is crucial. "Pathways to Great Guitar Playing" will help lead you there and this is just the beginning.
Far Beyond The Usual Way Of Teaching The Basics
"Pathways to Great Guitar Playing" goes far beyond just teaching you the notes on the guitar neck. You will learn a very simple, yet powerful way of developing scale patterns that cover the entire fret board in any key. The patterns, for example, are structured in such a way to help assist you in creating scale sequences of any complexity. (3, 4,5,6 notes etc.) "Pathways to Great Guitar Playing" contains many different areas of guitar playing that are, of course, crucial to the advancement of your guitar playing such as the mapping of chord and scale structures across the fret board in a simple yet elegant manner.

Want To Learn About The History of the Guitar?
The guitar and guitar playing are so indigenous to Spain much like hockey and hockey players are indigenous to Canada. Though the guitar is often believed to have originated in Spain, it's roots have been traced to the Arabic "Oud" and the Chinese "Pi Pa". The Spanish classical guitar as we know today, went through many years of refinement and redesign culminating in the work of the infamous guitar luthier Antonio Torres. Read more...
